Apply for a Department of Education PIN (personal identification number)
Apply for your PIN at www.pin.ed.gov.
The student and at least one parent (if applicable) should apply for a PIN before completing the FAFSA. The PIN will serve as the electronic signature when filing the FAFSA on-line at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
The PIN can also be used to access other related information including:
- Access to your Student Aid Report (SAR), which is the processed FAFSA data.
- Allows you to make corrections to your application information on-line.
- Allows you to e-sign a Master Promissory Note (MPN).
- Allows you to access the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS).
Apply for Federal Financial Aid through the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)
- Complete the FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov and include KCC federal school code 015000 .
- Be sure and have your (spouse, if applicable and parent(s), if applicable) 2009 tax return handy to answer the financial questions.
- Sign the FAFSA form electronically with your PIN (parent PIN, if applicable) for faster processing.
- After the FAFSA has been submitted you will receive a SAR via email or mail.
Verification and Corrections of the FAFSA
Kilian Community College may request additional information in order to verify or correct the information on your FAFSA. You may be requested to provide one or more of the following documents to the KCC Financial Aid Office:
- Signed copy of Student's (and Spouse, if applicable) U.S. Tax Return
- Signed copy of your Parent(s) U.S. Tax Return
- Verification Worksheet
- Signature Page for Student and/or Parent
- Copy of your Birth Certificate
- Copy of your Social Security Card
- Copy of Marriage License
- Copy of Selective Service Registration
- Copy of Certificate of Naturalization
